Meet the Dry Skin Team

This site is led and medically reviewed by Yongbo Jia, MD, who heads the dermatology service at Chongqing West District Hospital and who is responsible for the medical content. The other three physicians contribute what an assessment of dryness sometimes needs: the center’s standards and its handling of cases that sit inside a wider medical picture, the surgical perspective on what an operation cannot fix, and the assessment of when a device genuinely supports a routine rather than replacing it.

Yongbo Jia

Yongbo Jia (贾勇波)

Deputy Director & Head of Dermatology · Vice Chief Physician, Licensed Aesthetic Attending · Lead Physician of This Site

Barrier and eczematous skin disease · the assessment of dryness that is not simple · drug and systemic causes seen on the skin

Dr. Yongbo Jia is Deputy Director of the Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics Medical Center and head of its dermatology service at Chongqing West District Hospital, and he is the physician responsible for this site. A vice chief physician and licensed aesthetic attending, he graduated from Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine and trained in dermatology at the Institute of Dermatology, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, and at Chongqing Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

On this site his part is the split that decides everything else: whether the dryness is a barrier that has stopped holding water, a skin disease of which dryness is one feature, or the visible end of a systemic cause. He reads the distribution before the surface, asks for thyroid and glucose tests when the story asks for them rather than as a routine, and treats a routine that has been simplified and is working as a result rather than as an unfinished job. He says plainly when the answer is less washing and one product, including when a patient has arrived expecting a device.

Clinical focus

  • Barrier assessment: telling dryness from eczema, psoriasis and irritant contact change
  • The distribution of a rash, and what a pattern says about the diagnosis
  • Drug-induced and systemic causes of dry skin, including thyroid and glucose
  • Simplifying a routine that has been made worse by adding to it
  • When prescription topical treatment is justified, and when it is not

Academic roles & achievements

  • Member, Jiusan Society
  • Member, Chongqing Integrative Medicine Skin & Beauty Committee
  • Advanced training at the Institute of Dermatology (Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences) and Chongqing Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine

The routine is the treatment

For the commonest kind of dry skin the answer is a gentler wash and one plain moisturiser applied to damp skin, and nothing above that rung is needed. That is a real treatment rather than advice to do nothing, and it works far more often than the ladder above it is used. The step that is usually missing is not a product; it is the removal of one.

Shaoliang Wang

Shaoliang Wang (王韶亮)

Director, Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics Medical Center · Vice Chief Physician, Associate Professor, Doctor of Medicine

Center leadership · surgical standards and complex cases

Dr. Shaoliang Wang is Director of the Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics Medical Center at Chongqing West District Hospital. Within the team he provides the surgical perspective and the tertiary-hospital backstop — the assessment when an operation is the honest answer, and the hospital-level care for the rare complication that needs it.

Within this site his part is the standard behind any plan and the backstop for the rare case that needs more than a dermatology service. Patients whose skin problem turns out to sit inside a wider medical picture are assessed within his part of the service.

Clinical focus

  • Center leadership and multidisciplinary case review
  • Surgical assessment when an operation is the honest answer to descent or excess skin
  • Hospital-based care for the rare complication that needs theatre-level management
Tongchun Mao

Tongchun Mao (毛彤春)

Deputy Director & Head of Aesthetic Surgery · Vice Chief Physician, Licensed Aesthetic Attending

Aesthetic surgery · what an operation cannot change

Dr. Tongchun Mao is an aesthetic surgeon within the Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics Medical Center at Chongqing West District Hospital. Within the team his role is refinement and honest referral: he is the person who says so when an operation will do better than an injectable or a device.

Within this site his part is the honest boundary. A barrier problem is not an operation, and he is the person who says so when a patient arrives asking for a procedure to fix skin that needs a routine instead.

Clinical focus

  • Aesthetic surgical assessment and refinement of contour and asymmetry
  • Honest referral when surgery outperforms a course of injections
  • Shared case planning within the four-physician team
Ke He

Ke He (何锞)

Deputy Director & Head of Skin & Laser Aesthetics · Attending Physician, Licensed Aesthetic Attending

Skin and laser aesthetics · the surface of the skin

Dr. Ke He is Deputy Director and head of skin and laser aesthetics within the Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics Medical Center at Chongqing West District Hospital. Within the team her role is the device and injectable assessment, and the honest referral when a problem needs an operation rather than a needle.

Within this site her part is the small group in whom a device genuinely supports the routine: the assessment of whether a treatment acts on hydration and surface quality rather than on the barrier, and the aftercare that keeps a treated surface from drying out further.

Clinical focus

  • Device and injectable assessment before any treatment plan
  • Staged planning judged against standardised photographs
  • Honest referral when a problem needs an operation rather than a needle

Start with the routine, not another product

Arrange an assessment. We will say whether this is a barrier that needs a gentler routine, a skin disease that needs a diagnosis, or something that needs investigating, and what the next step is.
